How the Partnership between Special Gathering and Hyatt Regency New Orleans Created an Unforgettable Experience for All

Last summer Special Gathering and the Hyatt Regency New Orleans joined forces to create an unforgettable experience for the Grantmakers in Health Annual Conference.  This partnership not only showcased exceptional hospitality, but also highlighted the power of community, acceptance, and inclusivity.   We were excited to catch up with Lacey Cain, Associate Director of Commercial Services, who played a key role in helping us make a meaningful impact and create lasting memories for everyone involved.

What was your most memorable moment when working with the team at Special Gathering?

Other than Dani?  Other than her team?

Honestly, Dani herself is unforgettable—I’ll forever treasure being dubbed “Lacey‑shine.” That pretty much captures her energy perfectly. Beyond that, what stood out was watching Dani and her team handle a couple of small, inevitable challenges.  No stress, no drama, just “okay, here’s the solution.” Dani kept everything moving with her signature positive energy, and her team stepped in seamlessly with solutions.  Watching everyone pivot so smoothly and that calm, confident teamwork made a big impression and really set the tone for the entire event.

What unique logistics feature or service did Special Gathering provide that most improved your experience, compared to your past experiences with other planners?

Special Gathering has this incredible “already handled” energy. Questions were answered before we even asked them, backups had backups, and communication was clear without being overwhelming. Instead of chasing details or putting out fires, we got to focus on the experience - and that’s a game changer. It felt less like managing logistics and more like being part of something thoughtfully curated and genuinely fun.  Dani’s sunshine‑level vibes kept everything light, and her team matched that energy with solid execution. It made the entire experience feel collaborative, fun, and incredibly well‑run. 

How would you rate the collaboration between Special Gathering and our core vendor partners (AV, Transportation, Security) in delivering a successful event at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans?

Top‑tier. Gold‑star. No notes. The collaboration felt seamless, Special Gathering worked in true partnership with the AV, transportation, and security teams, creating a unified approach that felt coordinated and effortless.  At a large venue like the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, that level of synergy is key, and that true partnership absolutely showed.  It’s the kind of experience that makes you say, we wish every event ran this smoothly and positively!
